A guided reading course for classics and book series with discussion, analysis, and activities that help students think more deeply about what they read.

This class

  • Students read through selected books or excerpts and come together for live discussion and analysis
  • Sessions can include reading response activities, close reading, comparison, and thematic discussion
  • Depending on the unit, the class may focus on a classic work, a book series, or a connected set of readings
  • The goal is not just finishing the book, but learning how to read with more attention and thought

What families should know

  • Reading load and book selections vary by session and are shared before kickoff
  • Some sessions may include written, spoken, or creative response work
  • Students should expect to discuss what they notice and support their ideas from the text
